Supporting School Assessment Clients

The Accessibility Team for Assessments provides direct support to clients by helping them understand how Pearson solutions meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Effectively supporting the accessibility and accommodations needs of clients begins with understanding the needs of students with disabilities, the laws that protect these students, and the scope that was planned in the business relationship. The Accessibility Team for Assessments will support the Contract Management Team in reviewing the contract for accessibility requirements, planning for how to implement accessibility and accommodations for students, and identifying and managing risks related to accessibility.

Accessibility Engagement Partner

The Accessibility and Accommodations Team will provide an Accessibility Engagement Partner for programs. The Accessibility Engagement Partner will serve as a first point of contact for general accessibility related services. They will be available to consult with Contract Management Teams and the extended team on approaches to developing solutions for accessibility and accommodations services. They will serve as a point person and pull in additional resources from the Accessibility Team for Assessments to respond to more complex issues that require research or specific subject matter expertise.

The Accessibility Engagement Partner will also support internal Pearson content development, operations, and technology teams in understanding the needs of students with disabilities and how to develop better solutions to remove access barriers. They will also support clients when a direct accessibility contact is needed for general accessibility questions or concerns.

Research

Pearson has a dedicated research team that conducts extensive primary and secondary research and evaluation studies to improve educational outcomes. We also collaborate with external partners to better understand the access needs of all learners.

We conduct research studies on accessibility, research specific to development and product needs for assessment, and iterative usability studies with people with disabilities to inform best practices in accessible user experience.

We review and synthesize existing research to identify knowledge gaps, to inform policy and practices related to assessments and accommodations.
