Outreach & Networking
We engage with advocacy groups, standards bodies, and other organizations to gain a deeper understanding of how various disabilities may impact learning and assessment outcomes and to promote best practices adoption in digital content. Here are some examples of these activities.
- We actively collaborate with advocacy groups such as the National Federation of the Blind, the National Association of the Deaf, the Learning Disabilities Association, the American Educational Research Association, and others. Some of our team members serve on their organizational committees, attend and present at their conferences, or collaborate on publications.
- We engage in technical standards development through global organizations such as the W3C, IMS Global, ISO, and the DAISY Consortium to establish Pearson as a technical leader in developing best practices around emerging accessible technologies and coding best practices.
- We work with disability-related service providers and assistive technology vendors to identify knowledge and technology gaps, and to inform continuing development of effective assessment access for students with disabilities.
